Professional Background
Lex Urban, the founder and managing attorney of Urban Law, is a highly respected and accomplished defense attorney with almost twenty years of experience handling high-stakes representations for all types of entities and individuals. Lex's representations range from multi-national corporations and financial institutions to professional athletes and a President of the United States.
Lex's experience ranges from conducting compliance reviews and risk assessments to leading domestic and cross-border internal investigations navigating an array of legal issues across several industries, including financial services, higher education, consulting, cryptocurrency, sports data analytics, health care, pharmaceuticals and cloud solutions. Lex has frequently advocated before the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and many other federal and state regulatory bodies on behalf of his clients. Lex is a frequent writer, including co-authoring the United States portion of the American Bar Association's book, "An International Guide to Corporate Internal Investigations."
Prior to starting his own firm, Lex served as one of three partners at Blanche Law PLLC. His former partners include the Deputy Attorney General of the United States and Third Circuit Court of Appeals judge. For 15 years before Blanche Law, Lex was a Special Counsel in both the Washington, D.C. and New York offices of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, a leading international law firm.
Named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers, Lex received degrees in both Math and Psychology from Williams College, where he captained its national championship-winning tennis team. Lex received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Catholic University – Columbus School of Law. Prior to law school, Lex devoted a year to full-time community service teaching math and reading in DC public schools through Americorps' City Year program.
